Held at Silverstone from 14th to 17th July, Formula Student is Europe’s most established educational motorsport competition, run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). The competition aims to inspire and develop enterprising and innovative young engineers by challenging Universities to design and build a single-seat racing car to compete in static and dynamic events.

The Network are partnering with the IMechE as part of the Formula Student finals and will actively participate in this event through an exhibition stand in the Formula Student paddock, featuring a range of technology-rich, UK-built niche sports cars, low carbon propulsion systems and high tech lightweight automotive structures.

The stand would be manned by Network staff and senior management representatives from the exhibiting automotive companies, with a view to promoting careers in the industry, raising awareness of the opportunities available and inspiring young engineers to consider the advantages of working in SMEs.

The Network has also been invited by IMechE to support two technical seminars with speakers on each day. These seminars are very popular amongst the students and the aim is to raise awareness of low carbon automotive technologies, being informative and educational as well as inspirational.
