MIRA Wind Tunnel Time

The Network have secured the full scale MIRA wind tunnel on the 20th of February to enable a maximum of 4 selected niche vehicle manufacturers to each undertake a 2 hour benchmarking test.

It is anticipated that the 2 hour test duration will cover the following elements:

  • Baseline assessment of drag, front & rear lift and side forces through a ±30° yaw angle sweep
  • Flow visualisation using a smoke wand to show areas of good flow and turbulence
  • Any experimental modifications such as adding aerodynamic devices (e.g. spoilers and splitters), changing roof configuration, modifying cooling ducts, etc.

On the day of the test, a MIRA consultant will be present to examine and interpret the results that are being seen within the tests and associated data. The consultant will be there to help guide the participants as to where any issues may lie with the aerodynamics of the vehicle.

To apply for a place at this aerodynamics test day please email nvn@cenex.co.uk with the following details:

  • Company Name
  • Vehicle to be tested
  • Benefits of testing

Further information on the above test will be provided on application.
