Coventry University was recognised twice in the 2009 Lord Stafford Awards which celebrate innovative collaborations between universities and businesses in the West Midlands. The Health Design and Technology Institute won a Entrepreneurial Spirit Award for their work in collaboration with Stretching by Design in developing a unique device which can be used to alleviate the suffering of people with Multiple Sclerosis.

In addition, Dr Brian More, Business Development Manager for Intellectual Property, topped the Knowledge Transfer Champion category for his work in encouraging a culture of innovation to flourish not only among Coventry University staff and students but also in businesses in the West Midlands and around the UK.
