Motorsport Valley Launchpad: R&D Competition
The Technology Strategy Board is investing up to £1m in innovative business-led R&D projects in motorsport, high performance engineering, and related technology consultancy centred in the UK’s ‘Motorsport Valley’ cluster.
The Niche Vehicle Network has been working closely with the Technology Strategy Board and the Motorsport Industry Association to develop this competition and it offers NVN members, especially our more Motorsport-centric ones, a fantastic opportunity to get involved with performance engineering and motorsport led R&D.
The competition aims to stimulate and engage this niche sector in broader technology and business partnerships with other related market sectors, thereby significantly increasing new business and opportunities for commercial success.
The Technology Strategy Board are offering to fund up to 60% of eligible project costs in industrial research projects, with project costs anticipated to range between 50k-£200k. Projects will be expected to last up to 12 months and be led by micro or small and medium sized businesses.
Successful applicants can participate in a programme of business support and growth activities, including support to access external finance to fund a proportion of the project costs or commercialisation of the outcomes of the project.
The competition is being run in two stages:
1. Video proposal – where applicants describe their idea in a two-minute video.
2. Written proposal – for applicants shortlisted based on their video proposal.
The competition opens for uploading video proposals on 24 June 2013. The deadline for video submissions is by noon on 31st July 2013.
More information and guidance on how to apply is available from this date.
