The Niche Vehicle Network, Technology Strategy Board, and OLEV jointly announce the 2013-14 call for collaborative R&D projects.

The Network are pleased to announce a new CR&D Competition, which will provide a total fund of £1,350,000 for niche vehicle manufacturers, suppliers and technology organisations who wish to collaborate on innovative, industry-led projects focussing on developing and demonstrating vehicle or system level road-vehicle technology in the following categories:

Improved Fuel Efficiency & Carbon Reduction

• Electric vehicle/system development
• Hybrid vehicle/system development
• Use of alternative fuels
• Reduced emissions from internal combustion engines
• Aerodynamic development

Weight Reduction & Recyclability

• Lightweight vehicle/chassis/BIW structures
• Lightweight body panels, closures and interiors
• Lightweight/downsized powertrain systems
• Lightweight ancillary systems

All projects will aim to support the growth and competitiveness of the independent niche vehicle sector and will demonstrate the developed technology at either vehicle or system level.

The call for bids for grant funded collaborative R&D projects opens on 1st May 2013 and closes 7th July 2013, with application packs available from the 1st May 2013.

An information day to discuss the programme and how to apply for grant funding will be held on the 7th May at Heritage Motor Centre, Gaydon.
