Position Description

Title of Post:      Programme Manager, Fleet and Niche Vehicle Projects

Reports to:         Head of Operations

Location:             Loughborough with Regional/UK Travel

Background
Cenex delivers programmes and projects for national government and private sector clients in the areas of innovation support, working with the UK motor industry, and market stimulation (via Fleet Carbon Reduction and Infrastructure Deployment Support), working with public and private sector fleet operators and city authorities. In the area of innovation support for the motor industry, Cenex manages the Niche Vehicle Network (NVN) R&D programme, which delivers collaborative research and development projects involving low volume vehicle manufacturers, specialist automotive suppliers, technology companies and Universities. The project themes are related to low carbon vehicle technologies and lightweight vehicle structures.  For fleet operators, Cenex has a proven track record of running small fleet demonstration projects and of offering advice and support to fleet operators as they seek to plan for and implement fleet carbon reduction measures.
Purpose
The role will be split between programme management support for the final year of a 3-year NVN Programme and new project development  with UK fleet operators, in support of Cenex’ Fleet Carbon Reduction services.  
Principal accountabilities (NVN Programme)
·         To support the successful delivery of the remainder of the NVN programme, including a set of individual 6-month industry-led projects
·         To assist groups of companies (consortia) to develop and manage these individual projects in accordance with the rules and guidelines which apply to the programme
·         To generate, maintain and update the master timing plan for the programme and key activities for individual projects
·         To support the programme steering group (the Niche Vehicle Executive) in its role of assessing and selecting projects for approval
·         To manage the programme finances, including the payment of grants to participating organisations and the claims to the programme’s sponsoring organisations (AWM and TSB)
·         To maintain full and accurate programme records and to prepare regular progress reports
·         To work with our IT specialists to ensure that technical and promotional website content related to the programme is up to date, interesting and informative
·         To support a programme of meetings and events for the benefit of the participating companies
·         To liaise with colleagues and others involved with the delivery and management of the programme, including the Programme Director, IT, administration and accounting staff
·         To deputise for the Programme Director as and when necessary
Principle accountabilities (Fleet Carbon Reduction Business Development)
·         To introduce UK Fleet Operators to Cenex Fleet Carbon Reduction services and steer these fleet operators into projects
·         To liaise with Cenex Technical staff to ensure the delivery of Fleet Carbon Reduction services to the clients requirements and to time and budget
·         To present on Cenex’ Fleet Carbon Reduction services at conferences and seminars
·         To write bids and tenders responses
·         To oversee the production of promotional material in support of Fleet Carbon Reduction services
Person specification
·         Graduate or postgraduate in a technical discipline
·         Project management experience , preferably related to motor industry research and development and/or vehicle deployment
·         The ability to plan, manage and deliver complex projects
·         Good verbal and written communication skills
·         Highly computer literate (including MS Project, Excel, Word, Outlook)
·         An appreciation and understanding of innovative automotive and low carbon technologies
·         Self-motivated, flexible and resourceful
·         Strong on time-management
·         Track record of business development, including bid writing
Terms
The post is full-time, with an initial six-month probationary period. The place of work will be Loughborough, although the candidate must be prepared to undertake a significant amount of business travel in relation to the programmeThe role will require use of personal transport, with costs are reimbursed at typical business rates. Salary will be up to £40,000 depending on qualifications and experience. 
The company offers 27 days leave, plus Bank Holidays, per annum.
